Welcome / Play readings

Your new committee would like to welcome you to a new Florians year.

We are planning a number of readings over the next few weeks, to cast our next production, “Shirley Valentine”, and this year's Pantomime, “Dick McWhittington or A Christmas Camel” which is being written by Bill Sylvester, with contributions from Nicky Nicol.

The date for the first reading for “Shirley Valentine” is Monday 5th September at 7:30pm, with the casting a week later.

We are asking for anyone interested in directing a play for the SCDA one-act play festival to come along to a reading at the theatre on Monday 19th September, also at 7:30pm.

Any directors interested should contact the Secretary (details below), or just bring your play along.

As “Shirley Valentine” does not have a big cast we will also be looking to read some plays before rehearsals start for Pantomime - more details to follow.

The first reading for the Pantomime will be on Monday 26th September, so your September Mondays will be fully occupied!

St Valery Avenue store

Some of you may be aware that our costume store in St Valery Avenue has been broken in to a number of times recently. As a result we have decided to temporarily reinforce the structure by installing chain-link fencing round the outside of the building.

We need volunteers! Firstly, we have to clear the ground around the building, and then erect the fencing. This is planned for Saturday 27th / Sunday 28th August, starting around 10:00am on the Saturday, with Sunday to be used as a back-up day if required. As there may be some people who are not sure where the store is, we will be meeting at the theatre at 10:00am on the Saturday.

Membership fees

Some members who weren't at the AGM will need to renew their subs. If there is an application form with this newsletter, please complete and send with your subscription direct to the Treasurer at the address given.
