The Junior Florians
The Junior Florians have run a few groups over the years, first starting up in the 1960’s and then again in the 1990’s. But the Juniors as we know them now were established in 2009 and have been running strongly in the 10 years since.
Due to high demand in spaces we have decided to start a second group*. This will start in August and open up more opportunities to twice as many kids. We aim to bring out confidence not only on stage but also within the children themselves. Each week we play a variety of games, work on dances and songs and host a variety of workshops as well as much much more! Through this, we also work each year towards putting together a big annual production which this year sold out over both nights. In October we also have a more informal show night which is tied in with our annual Johnathan Stuart Award.
Johnathan was a much loved member of the club who was active in all areas of the theatre before his sudden passing in 2014. His family kindly donated a trophy in honour of his memory, which each year the kids have the opportunity to win. This is awarded to the Junior who not only demonstrates skills on stage but by encouraging those around them and constantly seeking to bring out the best in their fellow performers. With a second group starting up, watch this space for news on a new trophy coming too!
As part of our 75th anniversary celebrations we are having a Juniors summer camp in August which will include a range of workshops, games, a talent show and a trip to Eden Court! We will also be having a BBQ at Dores Beech which we are all very excited for!
