75th Anniversary Open Day
Saturday 13th July 2019 was a very special day for the Florians as this was our theatre open day. Our members enjoyed presentations from various speakers, special unveilings, several displays, some delicious food, and much more throughout the day. During the second half of the event we opened our doors to the general public, who were then able to come along and meet some of our members, as well as having the opportunity to explore the theatre and learn about our history.
The day kick started with our president, David Russell (right), welcoming all of our guests, including Provost Helen Carmichael, Paul Vaesen - son of our founder Guy Vaesen - and our own Florians members.

David then introduced our Honorary Vice President, Trevor Nicol (left), who gave a talk on the history of the club. Members old and new enjoyed being able to reminisce over their own time with the company during this. Trevor then introduced Paul Vaesen, who gave a brief talk about his father.

Following on from our individual presentations, Provost Helen Carmichael (below) then unveiled a plaque commemorating our 75 successful years as the Florians. To watch a video of this special event, please click here.

Paul Vaesen (above) then unveiled a photo of his father, which hangs on our foyer wall. This was kept secret from Paul prior to the event, and so was an emotional moment for both him and our members.

At this point our open day was declared as "open" and our guests were able to wander around the theatre enjoying several displays throughout each of the rooms. These consisted of:
